Nicklas Backstrom's Home in Northern Virginia Sells for $11 Million
The sale of Nicklas Backstrom's luxurious home in Northern Virginia has marked the end of his ties to the Washington DC area. The 16,000-square-foot mansion, located in one of the most prestigious neighborhoods, was sold for $11 million last week, according to the Washingtonian. The property, which Backstrom purchased in 2021 for $8.5 million, was initially listed for $14.99 million, making it a significant sale in the real estate market.
The home features an impressive array of amenities, including a sauna and steam room, a movie theater, a bar, a fully equipped gym, an elevator, and six fireplaces. The property also boasts an integrated speaker system, strategically placed under every TV and by the swimming pool, adding to its luxury and convenience. Despite the sale, Backstrom's connection to the area remains through his family, who have been living in Sweden since the summer.
Backstrom's professional life has also taken him back to Sweden, where he signed a one-year contract with Brynäs IF, his hometown team in the SHL, in late July. The 38-year-old centerman has been a key player for the Capitals, leading the team in assists. However, Brynäs has struggled this season, currently sitting 10th out of 14 teams in the SHL standings with a 16-16-3 record.
Backstrom's luxury villa in Gävle, Sweden, built in 2010, further highlights his global presence and diverse investments. As he transitions between his home in Sweden and his new life in Sweden, the sale of his Northern Virginia home marks a significant milestone in his journey.
