The Handmaid's Tale may have ended, but its legacy lives on in the Hulu sequel series, The Testaments. The trailer for the upcoming series, featuring the haunting soundtrack of The Cranberries' "Dreams," has been released by The Hollywood Reporter. The series follows the story of young teens Agnes and Daisy, who navigate the gilded halls of Aunt Lydia's elite preparatory school for future wives in Gilead. The school, where obedience is brutally instilled with divine justification, becomes the catalyst for their past, present, and future. The Testaments is an evolution of The Handmaid's Tale, based on Margaret Atwood's novel of the same name, and is adapted from Atwood's sequel novel. The series is created by showrunner and executive producer Bruce Miller, who also executive produces alongside a star-studded cast including Ann Dowd, Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday, Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti, Zarrin Darnell-Martin, Eva Foote, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Birva Pandya, and Kira Guloien. The show is set to debut on April 8 with the first three episodes, followed by weekly releases on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers. The Testaments promises to be a dramatic coming-of-age story that explores the complex dynamics between girls of a certain age in Gilead, where a marriage of Damocles hangs over their heads.
